History
Affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, West Conroe Baptist Church began as a mission on May 15, 1983. It was constituted as a church on June 2, 1985, and was incorporated on October 7, 1985. Weekly attendance pre-pandemic was around 1000 and present attendance is around 800 and growing. In the 40-year history of West Conroe Baptist Church there have been 2 pastors.

We believe God has placed the church body of West Conroe Baptist Church in this location to connect all generations through worshiping together in word and praise, growing in our relationship in Christ and being the hands and feet of Christ while serving the community and the world.


Senior Pastor’s Qualifications and Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and experienced Senior Pastor to join our team and lead our congregation in spiritual growth and service. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep commitment to ministry.

Senior Pastor Qualifications
The Senior Pastor shall meet the biblical qualifications found in I Timothy 3:2-7 and other biblical references.

West Conroe Baptist Church requires a Senior Pastor to:
  1. Be an ordained minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
  2. Not be divorced for any reason or be married to a woman so divorced.
  3. Believe in the Holy Bible as the inspired, inerrant Word of God and as the basis for any statement of faith and practice.
  4. Subscribe to the current Baptist Faith and Message, a statement adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention, as stated in Article I, B.1.
  5. Be a leader in stewardship and tithe at least 10 percent to the church.
  6. Having attained a master’s degree or higher in a ministerial related field with a minimum of 5-7 years of fulltime ministry experience.
Duties of the Senior Pastor:
  1. His primary responsibilities are to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to lead the Church to fulfill its purpose in the world and to minister to the needs of the people.
  2. The Senior Pastor shall lead the congregation, the committees and ministry teams, and the Church Staff in performing their tasks. The Senior Pastor shall be responsible for pastoral ministries in the church; and as such, he shall work with the Church Staff and Deacons to lead the Church in performing its tasks. The Senior Pastor shall be the leader in administering the business of the Church.
  3. He shall administer the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper and have the authority to designate a person to act in his stead.
  4. He shall be responsible for the selection of those who shall fill the pulpit in his absence. The person chosen will profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and have a zeal for the gospel and ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  5. He shall supervise all employees of the Church and shall have authority for termination of all employees except those Staff members called by the Church body. Specific personnel matters will be carried out according to the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual as adopted by the Church.
  6. He shall moderate all business meetings of the church and shall be an ex-officio member of all Church committees. He shall have the authority to designate a person to act in his stead.
  7. The duties of the Senior Pastor as outlined herein shall not be construed in any was to limit his ministry.

About The City of Conroe, TX

Conroe is the county seat of Montgomery CountyTexas, about 40 miles (64 km) north of Houston.

As of 2021, the population was 98,081, up from 56,207 in 2010. According to the Census Bureau, Conroe was the fastest-growing large city in the United States between July 1, 2015, and July 1, 2016.

The West Fork of the San Jacinto River flows through the western edge of Conroe. The entire city is within the river's watershed. The river flows southeast from Lake Conroe, a 19,640 surface acre lake created by a dam in 1973 to establish an alternative source of drinking water for Houston. Lake Conroe has excellent fishing opportunities as well as water sports.

Downtown Conroe's Central Business District hosts multiple arts venues. The oldest is the Crighton Theatre, which opened on November 26, 1935. In 1979 it was renovated, and it now hosts live theatrical productions. Another theatre, the Owen Theatre, is also located in the district. The Central Business District has outdoor performance venues at Conroe Founder's Plaza and Heritage Place, which host multiple festivals throughout the year.

The city supports several arts organizations, including the Greater Conroe Arts Alliance. The Alliance is a network of multiple arts groups in the city such as the Conroe Symphony, the Conroe Art League, and the Montgomery County Choral Society. 

Conroe ISD and neighboring Montgomery ISD and Willis ISD are excellent accredited schools. There are several private and Christian schools in and around Conroe. Residents of Conroe are served by the Lone Star College System (formerly North Harris Montgomery Community College).

Conroe and surrounding areas host world class medical facilities, two international airports, museums, and exciting art venues.
